"The lantern is what makes this design special. Most snowman designs in Christmas art have the snowman holding a broom or a gift. This one has a lantern, and when the board is lit from behind by the LED base, the warm yellow of the lantern glass becomes the brightest single point of light on the entire board. Under blue LED it becomes even more striking, the cool blue wash over the white snowman body contrasting sharply with that warm yellow lantern. The striped hat and scarf are also a pleasure to paint, the alternating red and white sections building up quickly with a satisfying rhythm."

First-Hand Tip: Paint the striped hat and scarf sections early, working through the alternating red and white stripes systematically from top to bottom. The stripes are narrow enough to require the fine brush, and doing them while your hand is fresh produces the cleanest lines. Paint the lantern glass last, applying the warm yellow with a single loaded stroke so the colour sits solidly and glows as a single bright zone when backlit.
