"A classic still life is a technical exercise in 'chiaroscuro', the strong contrast between light and dark. We designed 'Candlelit Books' as a masterclass in this very technique. The challenge for the artist is to use the warm, flickering candlelight to carve shapes out of the surrounding darkness. It’s a project that teaches you how to create a powerful mood and a sense of intimacy with a limited, focused light source. The result is a piece that feels timeless."

Pro-Tip: To create the most realistic, glowing candle flame, apply the lightest yellow and white paints as your final step. Use your fine-detail brush and apply the paint with a slightly thicker, confident stroke. For the dripping wax, allow the base candle color to dry completely, then apply the lighter highlight colors for the drips on top. This layering will create a convincing, three-dimensional effect.
